Lucifer is a series that aired on FOX in 2016, and when it came out, people didn’t have much faith in it. That completely changed by this date.
With the name, you can expect the series to be about whom we know as the Devil. However, this has a different twist since it doesn’t focus on the usual story of Lucifer Morningstar.
In fact, the series is based on the characters created for DC Comic’s Vertigo by Neil Gaiman. A connection not many would relate to unless they are fans and know the background.
That being said, what is so good about the series, and why do people continue to wait for new episodes?
First, there’s much more background to the characters, especially the main one, than just the concept of Hell and the regular bad actions of people. You know, the usual version we have of the good and the bad.

Plot Summary: American Devil?
The series isn’t set in Hell nor in Heaven. Instead, it follows an interesting plot by setting our version of Lucifer in Los Angeles.
But what does he do there? Let’s start from the beginning.
Focusing on Lucifer Morningstar, the usual powerful and handsome angel, is banished from Heaven because of his rebellion.
Lucifer, now known as the Devil, is tired and bored of his time as the Lord of Hell and punishing people after millennia and decides to abdicate his throne to defy his father (God).
Instead of aiming for Heaven, he moves to Los Angeles to start a new life where he owns his nightclub, Lux. There, he meets Detective Chloe Decker when he becomes involved in a murder investigation.
Lucifer helps the Los Angeles Police Department solve the case using his power of manipulation to get people to reveal their deepest desires.
Following his involvement in the case and how he helped the detective, he accepts an invitation from the Police Department to work as a consultant for Chloe.
Things wouldn’t be so difficult at work, thanks to Lucifer. Or that’s what they thought until they started encountering supernatural beings while developing quite an interesting relationship at the same time.
Cast & Production: Faces Behind & In Front the Cameras
When we mentioned the great cast, some of the members indeed made their debut in the television show and small screen. However, this doesn’t reduce their effort and outstanding performance.
Before going there, let’s talk about the production and the entire story.
As previously mentioned, the TV series is based on the DC Comics characters and follows quite the same genres, with occult detective fiction, urban fantasy, and comedy-drama as the main ones.
For the production, Tom Kapinos developed it. He took the role of executive producer with Ildy Modrovich, Len Wiseman, Jonathan Littman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Joe Henderson, and Tom Ellis by his side.
Other producers include Alex Katsnelson, Michael Azzolino, Erik Holmberg, and Karen Gaviola.
For the theme music, Heavy Young Heathens handled the project. The team includes brothers Aron and Robert Mardo.
Other composers include Ben Decter, Jeff Russo, Marco Beltrami, and Dennis Smith.
For cinematography and editors, over ten more people joined, including Christian Sebaldt and Jill D’Agenica.
But what about the companies?
Jerry Bruckheimer Television, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Television are the production companies involved, being the latter the distributor as well.
Although the Lucifer series was aired on FOX originally, it was until season 3 before Netflix included it in its platform.

Reception & Critical Response
As in our usual reviews for TV shows, we will quite owe you the details about money.
After all, networks don’t tend to share their profits with series, and instead, popularity and profitability are based on views and critical response.
With six seasons and 93 episodes at the moment of writing this, we will need to go over at least each season.
The pilot episode of the series released in 2015 during San Diego Comic-Con had quite positive critics. However, this changed when the first season was released in 2016.
Most of the reviews were quite negative, and websites like Rotten Tomatoes scored it with only 33% out of 100%. Metacritic was a little gentler and set it at 49/100.
However, the average rating only reached 3.5/10, and the critics’ sites, although based on a specific number of reviews, align with the fans’ responses.
Fortunately, things went uphill since the start of season two, when the negative reviews were nowhere to be seen.
The average rating went up to 7.83/10, and sites like Rotten Tomatoes set the score at 100% for the second season but also the third and fourth seasons.
Meanwhile, the fifth season went a bit lower with 81%, and the sixth season reached 100% once more.
Although general viewers have been reduced from 7 million for the first season to about 4.1 million for the last two, the series remains strong mainly for how well-received it is by the audience which continues watching.
In fact, Lucifer has been at the top of streaming ratings after the release of the second half of the fifth season, and 1.8 billion viewing minutes were recorded as of June 6, 2021.
Salaries & Earnings: How Much Does Lucifer Earn?
And we are talking about the actor’s salary.
As mentioned before, it can be hard to talk about the show’s earnings in specific, and the previous data can tell you how popular and profitable it is.
However, when it comes to the actors’ and actresses’ salaries, things differ a bit.
First, you must know earnings are based on per episode and then a total for the season.
Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer, reportedly received $50,000 per episode for the series’s sixth season. This means he earned about half a million dollars considering this season has only ten episodes.
But before being the popular Lucifer (aka most beautiful angel in history) for the most recent season, he earned about $5k per episode only for the first season.
This hasn’t been entirely confirmed, but it is the average based on his net worth at the time.
Other cast members like Lauren German also earn about the same per episode. Meanwhile, secondary members earn a bit less, ranging from $20,000 to $35,000.
We don’t actually have the specific sum for recurring or specific members, but we know it isn’t that low.
