TV Show Salaries & Earnings: Money Heist

Is It Worth Your Time or Expected Scam?

Among all the new TV shows and series from platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and more, it is hard to choose which one will be the next one you are going to binge on since you either ran out of options or feel like the remaining ones don’t meet your taste.

In those cases, we would always recommend people stick with the popular ones and give them a try. After all, they are popular for a reason.

However, we also get you might want to try something new and maybe be “different.” But as much as we understand this, we consider you’re also missing many good series that definitely deserves your time.

Money Heist is definitely one of those, and if you don’t own a Netflix account or have a way to watch it (legally, if possible), you will want to invest your money in it, and we can give you a few reasons for that.

Here, we will go over the details of the series and what it is about and aspects like the cast, salaries, earnings, and a few facts that will either leave you speechless or make your jaw drop.

Money Heist’s Plot – What to Expect from the Series

The best way to convince you to binge it? By just telling you the plot and omit those short synopsis platforms like Netflix and other review sites provide, which are barely 2 or 3 lines.

Just keep in mind that even when there is a central plot for the series, it can change over the course of the seasons based on a new focus or maybe a different approach added to the central one.

This is why we will do our best to focus on the general plot and only provide little information of the seasons in particular to avoid any spoilers.

Money Heist #2 - didyousaymoney.com

A mysterious man named “The Professor” decided to recruit eight robbers to carry out the biggest heist in history.

They all have one thing in common: They don’t have anything to lose.

Five months of solitude, memorizing every detail, every probability, and every step culminates in eleven days in the National Coinage and Stamp Factory of Spain.

Surrounded by police and with dozens of hostages, they are trying to figure out if their suicide bet will bring them everything they wanted for or the doom in their lives.

Although season 1 focuses on this general plot, season two starts with a different one yet very similar: The rescue of two of the band members.

The following three seasons of the series are, of course, connected with the first ones and follow a major situation and occurrence in the life of the characters during a heist but also their personal lives.

If you still have your doubts about the series, we ought to let you know that it was acclaimed as one of the best series and won an Emmy Award for International Best Drama Series at the 46th ceremony.

The sophisticated plot, connecting with the characters, their interpersonal dramas, and how well directed and written the series won’t make you feel disappointed even if you aren’t a fan of the crime drama, thriller, and heist genres.

People Behind the Series: Production & Cast Members

With such a big success and the fact that many members are involved in the heist as well as secondary actors and actresses, you can expect a large production team behind the scenes.

For starters, the series was created by Álex Pina, who also worked as an executive producer by the hand with Sonia Martínez, Jesús Colmenar, Esther Martínez, Lobato, and Nacho Manubens.

Meanwhile the cinematography fell in the hands of Migue Amoedo and the editors included David Pelgrín, Luis Miguel González, Bedmar, Verónica Callón, Raúl Mora, Regino Hernández, Raque Marraco, and Patricia Rubio.

Finally, the production companies were Atresmedia and Vancouver Media, while Antena 3 Television and Netflix were the distributors and original networks.

But what about the members of the cast?

Since we have many involved, we will do our best to focus on the main ones and some recurring members:

  • Úrsula Corberó as Silene Oliveira (Tokyo).
  • Álvaro Morte as Sergio Marquina (The Professor)/ Salvador Martin.
  • Itziar Ituño as Raquel Murillo (Lisbon).

Most of the actors and actresses involve natives from Spain as the origin and main place for the series, but others from Serbia and Argentina also take part.

Let’s Talk About Real Money: Earnings & Salaries

What can you expect from a big hit series? Lots of millions? That’s quite accurate!

Money Heist didn’t disappoint during all its seasons, including the current and final one, season 5, which still has some episodes to be released in December 2021.

Of course, like most TV shows and series, it did fell down a bit compared to the first season and initial episodes for each of the first three parts.

However, the reception of the series was strong mainly due to the move to Netflix when the company bought the rights for its distribution to the point of being the most-followed series on the platform for six consecutive weeks and topped the rank as one of the most popular series on IMDb.

When it came to the broadcast via Antena 3 in Spain, the reception was also good, and people liked it so far. Though, the main growth was due to Netflix for the international release.

But answering the question about the earnings, how much did Netflix make from Money Heist (also known as “House of Paper”)?

Well, we don’t really have this information.

Netflix is known for being private about its earnings except for official and legal information.

What we do know is that the platform paid only $2 for it and has earned millions due to its transmission without a doubt.

But how can we know the platform earned millions? Simple: The viewers, reception, and actors’ salaries.

Money Heist #5 - didyousaymoney.com

If we consider how much the actors and actresses were paid, it is easy to know how much they earned overall.

Keep in mind that salaries always vary according to the season and length of the series. The longer it is, the more the cast gets paid for each episode, not per season.

That being said, we will focus on the salaries for season 5 and the last reports.

But to give you an idea, most of the main cast, like Álvaro Morte and Úrsula Corberó, were earning about $70k per episode for season 3. While for season four, some reached $100k.

However, with the last season coming up, salaries always boom without much effort.

To this date, they got paid:

  • Úrsula Corberó: $120.000 per episode.
  • Álvaro Morte: $150.000 per episode.
  • Esther Acebo: $100.000 per episode.
  • Itziar Ituño: $75.000 per episode.
  • Darko Perić: $80.000 per episode.
  • Pedro Alonso: $120.000 per episode.

The rest of the main cast members ranged from $75.000 to $80.000, just like Itziar and Darko, while the recurring members and secondary ones ranged between $20k to $50k.
